A video shared on Instagram on Thursday (August 15) by both Snoop’s page and the profile for his cannabis brand, S.W.E.D. (which, if you haven’t guessed, stands for “Smoke Weed Every Day”), gave fans a peek into what looks like the grand opening. While Snoop himself didn’t make an appearance, his son and business partner, Cordell Broadus, was there to take the reins, proudly declaring it “the first Snoop Dogg coffee shop in the Netherlands,” with a not-so-subtle hint that this won’t be the last. One can only imagine what the next one will look like—maybe a Snoop-themed gondola tour?
Along with a lineup of cannabis products that would probably make Willie Nelson jealous, the S.W.E.D. Coffee Shop features a collection of memorabilia from Snoop’s legendary career. And because it wouldn’t be a proper Snoop Dogg joint (pun intended) without some lyrical wisdom, the walls feature quotes from his discography, including the crowd favorite: “It ain’t no fun if the homies can’t have none.” Wise words to live by when you’re running a cannabis empire.
Snoop’s weed takeover doesn’t stop in Amsterdam. Earlier this summer, he opened the first S.W.E.D. dispensary in his hometown of Los Angeles, paying tribute to none other than 2Pac during the launch. The dispensary, fully licensed and as West Coast as it gets, opened with a bang and a whole lot of nostalgia for the late ‘Pac.
Named after Nate Dogg’s iconic final line in Dr. Dre’s “The Next Episode,” the LA dispensary also features a limited-edition cannabis line paying tribute to 2Pac. But that’s not all—customers also get a bonus: an exclusive, never-before-seen photo of 2Pac, along with a matchbook recreated from the original photoshoot. In fact, Snoop has often credited 2Pac for his own weed-smoking habits. In a 2017 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction speech for the late rapper, Snoop reminisced about the moment ‘Pac handed him his very first blunt at the 1993 wrap party for Poetic Justice, the film that starred 2Pac and Janet Jackson. “2Pac is the one who got Snoop Dogg smoking blunts,” Snoop said, talking about himself in the third person like only Snoop can. That first blunt, according to Snoop, sparked not just a high, but a lifelong friendship. And now, through his cannabis products, Snoop is offering fans a way to connect with ‘Pac in a new, smokier way.
