Study finds a 100 mg hemp-derived CBD suppository significantly reduces menstrual pain and symptoms

A new quasi‑experimental study has found that a commercially available, hemp‑derived, broad-spectrum CBD vaginal suppository (100 mg) can significantly ease menstrual-related pain and symptoms.

The research involved 77 women using the CBD suppository and compared them to 230 women following their usual pain-relief routine.

Over the course of about two menstrual cycles, the CBD group reported a significant drop in both the frequency and severity of menstrual symptoms, plus less disruption to daily life and a lower reliance on painkillers. Interestingly, the more frequently women used the suppositories, the greater their relief — suggesting a dose‑dependent effect. By the second follow-up, 81.1% of users said they experienced at least moderate improvement.

While these results are promising, the study is not a randomized controlled trial. The authors call for further research to better understand how CBD works in this form, evaluate safety (including possible drug interactions), and confirm these effects in larger, more rigorously designed studies.
